This Surrey Hills family engaged Hanson Building to help extend their classic California Bungalow.

Hanson Building retained the front of the home and protected the magnificent, landscaped front yard. Hanson Building added a large extension at the rear of the home, including stylish new kitchen and butler’s pantry to support the family’s keen cook. The kitchen included an island bench with induction cooktop complete with a rangehood in the lowered ceiling, plus a specialised cookbook shelf to keep important recipes close at hand.

The home was enhanced by floor-to-ceiling customised bookshelves in the family room, as well as a bespoke mudroom with plenty of space for school bags, sports equipment and dirty linen.

Hanson Building also added a functional new laundry with drying cupboard, a kids’ rumpus room with access to the half-court basketball in the backyard, two new bedrooms, a study and two fresh new bathrooms. Hydronic heating and ducted air conditioning were installed throughout both the existing and new areas of the home.

In the backyard, Hanson Building constructed a large Millboard deck around the newly installed pool.
