Canterbury warmth
This Canterbury gem was sensitively renovated to retain and enhance its period features.
An extension at the front of the home tied in seamlessly with the existing structure. The front addition included a new master ensuite and walk-in-robe, as well as a double carport and workshop.
At the rear of the home, Hanson Building extended the home into the backyard to create a new light-filled library, incorporating a charming leadlight window retained from the original house. Beyond the library, the sunken extension included a chic, country-style kitchen and 5.5-metre-long butler’s pantry, new large family room, new powder room and new laundry.
Floor-to-ceiling windows, stunning French glass doors and Velux sky lights ensure the room is light, airy and welcoming.
The owners’ stylish design elements were incorporated throughout the extension, including a Castlemaine slate hearth and wood heater in the family room and floorboards to match those in the existing period home.
The extension was completed with a wrap-around decking down to the established backyard.
